The project will offer 40 scholarships to students from Cheikh Anta Diop University and Cheikh Hamidou Kane Digital University in Senegal for research internships in fields related to sustainable development at eight institutions in the Université du Quebec network.

The research internships will last four to six months and will be supervised by faculty members.

In addition to the research internship, the scholarship recipients’ experience will include measures and activities aimed at promoting their welcome and integration, as well as the development of their knowledge and skills, particularly in the areas of employability, the environment, sustainable development, climate change and gender equality.

Candidate Profile:

The eligibility criteria fare as follows:
a) Be affiliated as a student with UCAD or UN-CHK;
b) Have as a primary objective to complete a training period (research internship) in Canada and to return to their home country after their stay in Canada;
c) Not have previously participated in a scholarship program funded by the Government of Canada and not be currently enrolled in a program of study at a Canadian institution of higher education;
d) Never have applied for permanent residence or Canadian citizenship.

The selection criteria in terms of knowledge and skills will be specific to each research internship offer. That said, general criteria may apply to all offers:
a) Have completed a specific number of semesters or years of study in the program;
b) Quality of education: Have an academic record that qualifies for admission to a Quebec university;
c) Academic excellence: cumulative grade point average;
d) Experience: work, courses, internships, or jobs relevant to the internship;
e) Language skills: depending on the requirements of the internship;
f) Technological skills: depending on the requirements of the internship.

Supporting documents attesting that candidates meet the selection criteria may be requested, for example:
a) a transcript of grades;
b) a resume;
c) a cover letter;
d) a letter of recommendation.

A remote interview may be required during the selection process.
