The Kenya Blue Economy Scholars (KBES) program provides scholarships to faculty and staff from two Kenyan partner institutions for blue economy-focused programs at the Marine Institute, aiming to align education with market demands and globalize the Institute’s campus. Working closely with partner institutions, the Marine Institute identifies eligible personnel engaged in relevant training. Participants can choose from four programs, lasting one to two years, offering practical industry exposure. With portions of academic programing offered online, the initiative minimizes disruption to work and family commitments while enhancing instructional skills. Addressing labour market gaps and embracing new technologies, the KBES program fosters mutual learning between Kenyan and Marine Institute personnel, enriching their technical and intercultural competencies through collaborative activities.
